Magnolia stayed perfect in the elimination round of the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup after demolishing the winless Terrafirma Dyip, 105-83, Friday afternoon at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Hotshots improved to 4-0 while the Johndel Cardel-mentored squad dropped further to the bottom of the standings with a 0-3 card.

Ian Sangalang paced the 2014 PBA Grand Slam champions with 18 points while Mark Barroca added 16 to go along with 6 boards, 5 assists and a steal in 25 minutes of play.

“It’s all about our defense. Yun naman yung pinag-usapan naming. We want to respect this team, Terrafirma. That’s our proper mindset,” said Magnolia coach Chito Victolero during the post-game presser.

“We don’t want na mag-relax kami. Good thing yung mga bata, naa-adopt nila,” he added.

Hotshots rookie Jerrick Ahanmisi had his best performance so far as the former Adamson University standout dropped 15 points on 4-of-8 shooting from long distance within a 3-minute stretch in the final frame.

Star guard Paul Lee managed to score 5 points but left the game in the second period after suffering an injury.

“Medyo nagkaroon ng kaunting injury si Paul and as precautionary thing lang para hindi lumala (yung injury). Good thing nandiyan si Mark. Good thing nandiyan si Mark, and he’s a veteran,” explained Victolero.

Calvin Abueva pumped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists while Jack Corpuz and Jio Jalalon added 12 and 10 markers, respectively.
