WATCH: Newest Hotshot Calvin Abueva on 2OT Live!

Calvin Abuvea is moving over to Magnolia.

The 33-year old native of Angeles City found himself on the move after Phoenix Super LPG sealed a deal with the SMC-owned franchise Wednesday morning.

In exchange for the energetic forward and the team’s first round pick (10th overall) in the upcoming PBA Rookie Draft which is set to be held online on March 14, the Fuel Masters received Chris Banchero and the Hotshots’ 1st and 2nd round picks (6th and 18th) in the upcoming draft.

The deal has already been approved by the PBA trade committee.

“It was not an easy decision to let go of a player like Calvin, considering he has been through thick and thin with Phoenix,” said Phoenix in a statement.

“Yet at the same time, we are excited to acquire a first-round pick from a very deep draft, and together with Chris Banchero, who is a superstar in his own right, the team has a great opportunity to grow in the years to come.”

Phoenix management also took the opportunity to thank Abueva who just two months ago was signed to a max three-year contract.

“We thank Calvin for everything he has done for us, and we wish him all the best in his new journey.”

Abueva averaged 15.4 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.7 steals in 12 games played for the Fuel Masters during the 2020 Philippine Cup inside the PBA bubble in Clark, Pampanga.
