Magnolia vs Terrafirma | PBA Season 47 Philippine Cup

Magnolia has been winning in various ways in its recent outings – an 89-84 grind-out versus Barangay Ginebra, a 95-77 domination of Phoenix Super LPG and an 87-73 come-from-behind against NLEX.

Whichever way, the Hotshots hope to keep on winning as they take on the back-to-the-wall Terrafirma Dyip in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Friday. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.

Coach Chito Victolero and his crew seek to stretch their romp and enhance their quarterfinals drive entering the critical stage of the single-round-robin elims.

With their rebound from a shaky 1-3 tournament start, the Hotshots are now in the middle of the pack, and are determined to stay there in a bid to claim a spot in the best-of-three quarterfinals.

That is if they can no longer salvage a Top Two finish which rewards a twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinals. For coach Johnedel Cardel and his team, the immediate goal is to get over the hump and break into the win-column.

At 0-7, they have a lot of catching up to do in their last four games against Magnolia, San Miguel Beer, Rain or Shine and Meralco.

Victolero says the pressure is on their side, and he’s egging on his team to just stay focused at the task at hand.

The last time around, the Hotshots used a decisive 19-2 tear at the start of the third quarter to overcome a bad start and pull off their vital win over the Road Warriors.
