WATCH: Interview with Best Player Jerrick Ahanmisi [Magnolia vs Northport | June 23, 2023]

Magnolia’s dominating 125-89 victory over NorthPort on Friday, June 23, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, Philippines, extended the team’s winning streak to six games in the PBA on Tour.

The Hotshots simply outclassed the Batang Pier on both ends of the court, establishing a sizable lead that they never surrendered until the final buzzer to remain undefeated in preseason exhibition games to date.

Jerrick Ahanmisi, James Laput, and Joseph Eriobu each took turns punishing the Batang Pier as part of a team effort by Magnolia.

Ahamisi led the team in scoring with 23 points, followed by Eriobu with 16 points and Laput with 15 points.

Before the Hotshots went on a 16-5 run to close out the first half and take a 53-41 lead into halftime, NorthPort and Magnolia were neck-and-neck in the opening period.

The Batang Pier attempted to make a comeback in the third quarter, but the Hotshots, who scored 30 points in the third, were simply too hot to handle and extended their lead to as many as 39 points in the fourth quarter.

Jackson Corpuz also contributed 14 points, Rome Dela Rosa and Jed Mendoza each scored 11 points, and Mark Barroco tallied 10 points to round out Magnolia’s scoring.

NorthPort was led by Arvin Tolentino’s 19 points, while JM Calma added a double-double. The Batang Pier’s three-game winning streak was also snapped, resulting in a 3-3 record in the standings.
