Magnolia ready for Meralco’s new import

Magnolia head coach Chito Victolero admits that he hasn’t fully scouted incoming Meralco import Shonn Miller.

In fact, the Hotshots have only seen Miller’s style of play from highlight reels found online.

“We’ve seen highlights of his game, but that’s it,” said Victolero on the eve of their game against the MVP-owned franchise at the San Agustin Gym in Iloilo City.

“That’s all we can rely on at this time, but we’ll come out prepared for him,” he added.

Miller, who had a successful season with Fuerza Regia in the Mexican league, will now join Meralco as their third reinforcement. This move comes after Sulaiman Briamoh’s injury and the decision to release Zach Lofton.

While not entirely a bad replacement for Briamoh, Lofton was deemed as too small as the Bolts needed a bigger and stronger reinforcement.

Miller was formally cleared by the league following an official measurement of 6-foot-6 and ¼ inch.

The Hotshots have already clinched the top seed and twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs with their league-best 9-1 record. However, Victolero and his team are not satisfied.

“We want to make a good impression in our first game of the year and we want to bring that playoff mentality already so we can carry it over in the quarterfinal round,” stressd the one-time PBA champion mentor.
