Hotshots still waiting for Marc Pingris’ decision

While Magnolia is busy filling up roster spots for the upcoming PBA Season, the team is also keenly awaiting the decision of veteran forward Marc Pingris.

The 39-year old native of Pozzorubio, Pangasinan is still undecided on whether to continue playing or call it a career.

“Actually, hinihintay ko din siya, pero ayaw ko naman siyang madaliin dahil meron din naman siyang programang sinusundan. Right now, regular naman niyang pinapalakas yung injured sa kanya,” said Hotshots head coach Victolero during a guesting on the online program The Chasedown.

“Ayaw kong mauna kung anuman yung sasabihin ni Ping. I just want to respect the person dahil grabe naman talaga yung contribution niya not only with the Purefoods franchise, but with the entire basketball community dito sa Pilipinas,” he added.

Pingris tore his left ACL during the 2018 Philippine Cup and has spent most of his time on the sidelines ever since. He returned during the 2019 Commissioner’s Cup after a 16-month layoff and suited up for 21 games. His comeback, however, was short-lived as the 2-time PBA Finals MVP came down with a calf injury and missed the entire 2020 Philippine Cup.

The 3rd overall pick of the 2004 draft hasn’t signed a new deal yet after his old one expired last season.

“Right now wala pang update kay Ping. So we’ll just try to wait for Ping. We’ll wait for him kung ano yung magiging desisyon niya,” said Victolero.
